Vitali-D Project
Vitali-D Project began as a graduate school exploration of my relationship with my depression. Having been diagnosed when I was 22, I was curious how my journey could be translated to a performative experience. The exploration culminated in a devised theater piece as part of my MFA Thesis in 2015. One of my biggest discoveries during that process was that this exploration and the subsequent performance piece are not static. They remains in flux as time passes and my relationship with my depression evolves.
Therefore, Vitali-D Project speaks to the culmination of this work over the last 4 years. There have been 2 fully produced productions, of which you can read more about below, and a third on the way. My long term goal with Vitali-D Project is to be able to use the performance element as an opportunity to open space for dialogue around mental illness, whether in schools, in recovery centers, or wherever else the need exists. Vitali-D Project is fiscally sponsored by Fractured Atlas. |

My Days with D is an original solo-performance piece which illuminates the peculiar relationship a woman develops with her depression, which is brought to life as D, a character all his own. And like any relationship, the woman and D have their turmoils and triumphs – because how does one love depression?
This original production is truly bizarre, romantic “…strange …funny …quirky …beautiful stuff!”
